Most Lebanese ecommerce businesses that run Google Ads use text search ads — the headline-and-description format that appears when someone searches a keyword. Google Shopping ads work differently: they show your product image, name, price, and store name directly in the search results, above the text ads. For product-based businesses, this format consistently produces higher click-through rates and better conversion rates than equivalent text ad spend.
Lebanese ecommerce stores are significantly underrepresented in Google Shopping results. This means the auction is less competitive and the costs are lower than in UAE or KSA. For Lebanese online stores, now is the time to run Shopping ads before the market matures.
How Google Shopping Works (and Why It Is Different From Search Ads)
Google Shopping ads are not managed through keyword lists. Instead, Google pulls your ad directly from your product catalogue — the data feed you upload to Google Merchant Center. The ad content (product image, title, price, store name) comes from your product data, not from ad copy you write.
This means Google Shopping performance is determined more by your product feed quality than by your bidding strategy. A product feed with clear titles, accurate prices, and complete attributes (size, colour, material) will show for more relevant searches than a sparse feed with minimal product data.
Google determines which searches trigger which Shopping ads by matching search queries to your product data. If your product title is 'Red Dress', Google may not show it for 'summer red maxi dress women'. If your title is 'Women's Summer Maxi Dress — Red Floral Cotton', it is eligible for a much wider range of purchase-intent searches.
Setting Up Google Merchant Center for Lebanon
Google Merchant Center is the platform where you upload and manage your product feed. For Lebanese stores, the setup requires: a Google Merchant Center account verified for your domain, a data feed in the required format (Shopify and WooCommerce both have native Google Merchant Center integrations), and the correct target country configured.
Lebanon is available as a target country in Merchant Center. Set your target country to Lebanon (LB) and currency to Lebanese Pound (LBP) or USD — depending on what currency your store prices in. If you target both the Lebanese resident market and the diaspora, you can run separate Shopping campaigns targeting Lebanon and specific diaspora countries (France, Australia, US) from the same Merchant Center account.
